The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold a public informational meeting to update the community on current activities at the Fifth Ward/Kashmere Gardens UPRR Site. The meeting agenda will include: 1. an overview of the EPA’s current involvement at the Project Site 2. a brief presentation on the major work activities and anticipated timeline 3. the role community will play in the decision-making process 4. upcoming opportunities for community involvement 5. an informal question and answer period
The Fifth Ward/Kashmere Gardens Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Houston Wood Preserving Works site is located within the Historic Fifth Ward Neighborhood. EPA has identified an initial focus area for the investigation and encourages people who live within the focus area to attend the meeting.
EPA's initial focus area for the upcoming investigation includes the residential properties, schools, parks, and other publicly accessible properties located adjacent to and within a few blocks of the UPRR Houston Wood Preserving Works site, located at 4910 Liberty Road, Houston, Texas. This investigation approach allows EPA to identify and track pollution from its source.
EPA is offering two identical meetings for your convenience. The same content will be offered at each meeting. This is not a formal meeting. You will have the opportunity to talk directly to agency representatives and ask questions.
