More Information
I have founded and grown my career from the fundamental understanding that the concept of intersectionality is the ethical lens with which to address the social, environmental, and cultural justice issues that we face today. My journey began at 15, taking on a student directorship at the Oberlin School Farm Collaborative, which became the first of its kind farm to school program within the Oberlin City School system.BR> I received my degree in Environmental Science and Policy, with a Sustainable Foods concentration in 2017 at Smith College. During this time I co-founded an organization within the 5 colleges for BIPOC students called “5 College SCOPES”, a charted organization that advocates for more intersectional and racial justice focused curriculum within STEM and other social science departments. BRBRIn my current role as Climate Programs Regional Manager for Second Nature, I’ve taken my grassroots capacity building background into the higher education sector, and have championed the direct relational work and feedback of HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and MSIs (Minority Serving Institutions). I created the Intersectional Climate Action Leaders Working Group, a think tank for BIPOC people within HBCU, MSI, and Tribal Colleges, and affiliates. I worked with these working group members to create the first ever BIPOC-only summit session at the Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit in 2023, entitled, "BIPOC Leaders Advancing Climate Action at HBCUs and MSIs" I've co-created Second Nature's first of its kind partnership with Black Sustainability, Inc, as well as co-create the first of its kind pilot "Buddy Program" between Agnes Scott College and Bennett College,BRBR>
